Ive only just got back so i'll keep this brief. As tonight was my first game since NYD i was interested to see for myself the improvement in the side that everyone has been saying and even though we lost tonight i could see a vast improvment in the dire performances we put out over the xmas period.
It was a fairly even and scrappy game which was won by a quality strike from Chelmsfords John Martin. Watch it on their hightlights when it comes up.
I was especially looking forward to see Nathan Walker and Coutts play for us and by god how much Walker has improved. Won everything and led the defence by example, he reminded me very much of Alex Browne tonight. Coutts also looked lively. Devlin didnt stop running for the whole game and had 2 decent chances one before half time and a free kick in the last 5 minutes or so.
Having 3 players in Kevin Hill, Critts and Mossy out at the start was a blow and when they return we will have a near full strength squad to choose from which can only be a good thing. Hill and Mossy both had flu and Critts wasnt 100% and Ash probably felt it was best to rest him.
Dissapointing result but chelmsford were a good side and perhaps could and should have put the game beyond us but we had some good opportunities to equalise ourselves, including Emati-Emati's heading wide on the rebound from Devlins free kick.
Apologise for this poorly written analysis. Could have waited till tomorrow with a better one but im sure you're all dying to know about the game already.

You're right, I was dying to know about the game. Cheers for the write-up Fred Sorry I couldn't join you there in the end. Hate clubs who play on Monday nights! It sounds like we've really improved since the festive period _________________ Proud member of the Dorchester Town Supporters Trust

No worries mate. Tonight was probably the coldest ive ever been during a football match. So you should be glad you didnt have to stand through that for 90 minutes. _________________ Cursing Dorchester Town players with signitures since 2008.

Can only echo what Fred said about last night's game. A bitterly cold night but a right good laugh behind the goal with the six of us that made the journey. Chelmsford had a number of chances but we had our fair share too and I thought we were good enough for a point. It was a physical game and had their right-back been sent off for his challenge on Neil Martin in the second half (looking at their forum, even their fans can't believe he wasn't) then perhaps it'd have ended differently.
All in all I didn't feel too downhearted after the game. Disappointing to lose, but the team showed far more passion than they have previously done this season (recent run excluded of course) and if we continue in that manner we'll be safe from relegation well before the final game of the season (which will be nice!). _________________ "Now I may be an idiot, but there is one thing I am not, sir, and that, sir, is an idiot."

Really? I'd have been stunned if Regan had got anywhere near it, let alone saved it. Some days you just need to doff your hat and say "fair play", like Critts' goal against Stortford in the FA Cup!
Totally agree with Fred and Jim. Thought that Chelmsford were a reasonable team though not great. Both teams huffed and puffed but other than a few ranged efforts by them and a couple of missed headers by Bowlesy there wasn't much to shout about. Their back four mopped up our long balls with ease and I thought we looked infinitely more threatening when the ball was on the deck. A nice bit of skill from Devlin took him through two defenders and his shot was well saved. Sadly I think he had more time than he realised (though he shouldn't have, their defenders just stood still looking confused the tards!).
All that aside though I didn't think either team was going to get a goal until their midget blasted it in. After that we made an attacking sub and pushed forward and understandably left gaps to be punished. That was another plus for me, the subs. We went behind and Ash made the attacking change. When, after 15 minutes it was clearly not enough he took a defender off. Good man! There's no point 'holding on' to a one nil loss, you may as well go for it. _________________ I came here to drink milk, and kick a*se...and I've just finished my milk.
